What You'll Do:

The Payroll Tax Manager will be responsible for the coordination of Payroll tax reporting and tax audits as well as preparing the files tax reports and paying for payroll related taxes for the company. This position will contribute to maintaining payroll-related data within the payroll system and the successful coordination between the finance and human resources departments.

  • Reports to Director Payroll
  • No direct or indirect reports
  • Conduct the reconciliation of all payroll tax accounts
  • Verify and maintain unemployment tax rate per state
  • Ensure system compliance regarding government regulated data
  • Provide payroll data/reports as required to various departments, management, and agencies
  • Verify that implementation efforts meet payroll tax requirement
  • Audit state tax deposits and prepare monthly/quarterly/annual state tax reconciliations
  • Research and resolve outstanding payroll tax issues – for all agencies
  • Participate in the scoping of Payroll and Human Resources related information systems
  • Prepare paperwork for state registrations and tax returns
  • Prepare appropriate schedules for tax reports and audits
  • Research and respond to all incoming government agency inquiries
  • Reconcile quarterly returns and year-end forms (ie, W2s and W2Cs)
  • Conduct monthly audits on the local taxes such a PA
  • Manual payments for taxes that aren’t handled by UPS – Ultimate Payment Services
  • Track and audit tax refunds
  • Centralize the mailing address for each agency

  • BA/BS in HR, Business Administration, or related field required
  • 10+ years related experience required
  • Proficient experience with payroll systems preferred
  • Working knowledge with RSUs and PSUs preferred
  • Knowledge of ACA regulations preferred
  • FPC, CPP, or other relevant professional certification a plus
  • Keep abreast with government, federal and state laws and regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office application (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Advanced data quality/auditing skills
  • Able to think critically
  • Should be adaptable and able to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing business activities and departmental initiatives
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrates ability to work as a team player and independently
