What You’ll Do

Scrum Masters at REEF effectively guide teams to successful delivery by championing a culture of ownership, accountability, and transparency. We report to the Director of Program, allowing a central focus and adherence to best practices, ensuring successful delivery across our programs. We are servant leaders, facilitators, and motivators, working both within our own and across other scrum teams to ensure collaboration, communication, and visibility. We are responsible for helping our Scrum Team achieve their sprint goals, grow our teams through inspection and adaptation, work strategically together, and remain as agile as possible in the fast pace, ever-changing environment of startup culture.

What Your Day to Day Looks Like

  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies: Daily Scrum, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, & Sprint Retrospectives, all within a 2-week cadence.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risk by conducting assessments against proposed sprint goals during planning and team progress against current sprint goals during execution.
  • Work with your Program Manager and other Scrum Masters to mitigate risk and ensure success of cross team deliverables.
  • Collaborate in the development of processes, tools, and best practices to magnify your teams impact and drive efficiencies.
  • Proactively communicate and network with relevant team members and stakeholders to advocate for the needs and success of your current and future sprint goals.
  • Coach and advise your Scrum Team to refine their individual understanding of the Scrum framework and Agile methodologies.

What We Want From You:

  • You have experience working as a Scrum Master, leading complex cross-functional projects in emergent technology companies.
  • You have obtained Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master, or other relevant Scrum Master certification.
  • You have 3+ years of experience in Software Technology, either in a Product, Software Development, or Quality Assurance role.
  • You have experience working on a team using Scrum and Agile practices.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment where new ideas can quickly change the product landscape.
  • You can navigate ambiguity and the ever shifting priority of startup culture.
  • You have a firm understanding of agile/lean methodologies and have had experience delivering sprint goals using agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • You have worked closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and other teams to achieve the delivery of products and features that meet the goals of the product roadmap.
  • You have demonstrated soft skills and execute conversations with high emotional intelligence to communicate, persuade, influence, and handle challenging conversations with patience.
  • You can help bridge the communication gap between business and technical people.
  • You understand the five scrum values.
  • You possess effective leadership, and relationship-building skills with a focus on team culture, morale, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • You believe in the power of continuous improvement through iteration, via transparency, inspection, and adaptation.
  • You are successful at implementing and influencing adherence to agreed-upon standards and processes but know when and where to allow flexibility.
  • Aha!, Jira, and Confluence experience is preferred.
  • Previous enterprise and startup experience is preferred.
